The heat wave continues...

Our last weekend of a very busy and crazy June was a TCW under a blanket of blue skies.

Mid Wales looked more like spanish mountainside in a drought. When the conditions have been this dry for so long, the ground is rock hard meaning we travel that bit quicker, in fact, a lot quicker! The fast rolling conditions meant we finished on average 35-50 mins earlier each day over 4 TCW weekends. Great if you want to finish early, not so for tired legs!!

Optional detours sound awesome, especially if it’s dry again. I’m always down for more miles if it means fewer people and better views. Just don’t forget to keep the shady spots on the map — I nearly got cooked above Elan Valley last time 😅

Okay okay now I feel left out 😂Guess I’ll bookmark it for the next rainy hike when there’s zero signal but somehow that one weird hill still gives 3 bars...

Omg RockNRamble I think I know who you're talking about — tall guy with a portable solar panel on his pack? He said he only hikes if he can “stay connected” lol.

Haha omg the Spain of Wales is spot on!I wasn’t on TCW that year but did a Ridgeway section the same week — same story: dry trails, blistered feet, and epic sunsets. I actually met a guy at camp who killed time by checking football scores and putting a pkl bet on his team while we waited for water refill. Modern camping, eh? 🤣

Haha no way, I remember that year too — everyone was wearing buffs just to keep the dust out of their mouths.Good find, Lena! I didn’t realise how widespread the heatwave was across Europe until now. Did anyone else get those weird tan lines from gaiters and watch straps? I looked like a zebra for weeks 😄
