Guided riding in Wales and beyond...
At Mountain Bike Wales we don't just take you on a day out, we take you on a journey through some of the most beautiful scenery Wales has to offer. We guide and tailor our rides to suit your ability, from novice riders and those exploring off road trail riding for the first time, to epic multi day journeys across Wales for the seasoned rider.
Based in rural mid Wales, we are ideally situated to guide you over the Cambrian Mountains, Brecon Beacons and southern Snowdonia. The Elan Valley is our back yard, and it's large expanse of open land and excellent bridleways offer riders a true adventure at every twist and turn along the trail.
The forest centres at Nant Yr Arian, Coed Y Brenin and the Dyfi Forest have excellent trail heads, but the areas offer so much more if you know where to look!
So don't waste time reading maps trying to guess what 'might' be the best trail or epic loop, or trawling websites for accommodation and where 'might' be good to eat? Let us take all the hassle out of organising your weekend away, and guide you on your very own Wales adventure...
Meet your guides...
"I've been riding and guiding for over 20 years in the UK and abroad. I love nothing more than to ride in Wales, particularly the wild, remote Cambrian Mountains. Being able to share this beautiful landscape with like minded friends is extremely rewarding for me, and for those we guide and share the outdoors with.
"My life seems full of these encounters, and I thank those of whom have supported me on my journey. So not to blow my own whistle too much, here is a short overview.
"I've been a fully qualified technical mountain bike guide and skills coach for over 10 years, specialising in off road multi day adventures. I'm also a Leader Trainer of mountain bike guides in the UK and Europe through Cycling UK, and a technical adviser to business' that run biking activities. Away from biking, I hold the Mountain Leader Award (summer) and SPA Award as well as an active member of Aberdyfi Mountain Rescue Team.
"From a business point of view, we have been successfully assessed by an independent technical advisor from British Cycling on behalf of Visit Wales. We're really pleased that we met their high quality standards as an outdoor activity provider, and gives assurance to our guests that they are in safe hands"
"Having grown up riding ponies in the Brecon Beacons, I was happy to discover that a bike gave me the same sense of freedom and fun.
"I went on to train as a Mountain Bike Leader, first with CTC (now Cycling UK) and more recently becoming a British Cycling Level 3 Mountain Bike Guide. I love guiding both mixed and women specific groups and especially enjoy encouraging and building confidence in new riders to the sport which is why I now run my own guiding company called Mountain Yoga breaks. It’s never too late to start something new.
"For me, riding is all about getting out into nature, discovering new places or routes, pedalling away from our busy day to day lifestyles and taking time to unwind and reflect. I favour multi-day adventures in the UK, riding straight from home, carrying what I need, taking friends with me to share the experience and more importantly to just enjoy the ride."
This is Suki (daughter of Bunbury) and newest addition to our family. She's an aspirant trail dog in training, lover of chasing birds, and loves nothing more than having her tummy stroked. She’s just getting used to walking and running with the bike over short distances, and will hopefully be coming out for rides during this spring and summer.
Until then, she’ll be out and about in the van, so feel free for a cuddle, and keep your snacks and sandwiches tucked away!! ;-)
