Mountain biking across Wales and beyond...
Mountain Bike Wales guide you on a journey through some of the most beautiful, wild and remote landscapes you can ride. Your adventure and experiences will live long in the memory, leaving you with what the Welsh call “Hiraeth" meaning a longing, yearning or desire to return to Wales...
Phill & Polly live, work and play in the heart of the Cambrian Mountains of mid Wales. They have over 20 years guiding experience in both the UK and Europe, and have a vast wealth of knowledge and experience of riding in Wales. Their passion for riding and sharing the outdoors will ensure you have an amazing mountain biking adventure across one of Britain's last remaining wild landscapes.
Mountain Bike Wales is ideally situated to guide you across Wales along the Trans Cambrian Way (our speciality), explore the Black Mountains and Bannau Brycheiniog (formerly Brecon Beacons) to the south, or the stunning Eryri (formerly Snowdonia) National Park to the north. The Elan Valley is also a big favourite with its large expanse of open land and excellent bridleways that offe riders a true wild and remote adventure at every twist and turn along the trail.
The forest centres at Nant Yr Arian, Coed Y Brenin and Dyfi Forest also have excellent trail heads and are a great day out if you don't want to look at a map. However just a pedal stroke away are a network of off piste single-track trails that offer the seasoned trail rider so much more.
All weekends include great accommodation, food, guiding and transfers, and give you a real flavour of mid Wales life along your journey. So let Mountain Bike Wales take all the hassle out of organising your weekend away, and let them guide you on your very own Wales adventure...
Meet your guides...
Phill Stasiw
"I've been riding and guiding for over 20 years in the UK and abroad. I love nothing more than to ride in Wales, particularly the wild, remote Cambrian Mountains. Being able to share this beautiful landscape with like minded friends is extremely rewarding for me, and for those we guide and share the outdoors with.
"I've been a fully qualified technical mountain bike guide and skills coach for over 10 years, specialising in off road multi day adventures. I'm also a Leader Trainer of mountain bike guides in the UK and Europe through Cycling UK, and a technical adviser to business' that run biking activities. Away from biking, I hold the Mountain Leader Award (summer) and SPA Award as well as an active member of Aberdyfi Mountain Rescue Team.
"From a business point of view, we have been successfully assessed by an independent technical advisor from British Cycling on behalf of Visit Wales. We're really pleased that we met their high quality standards as an outdoor activity provider, and gives assurance to our guests that they are in safe hands"

"Having grown up riding ponies in the Brecon Beacons, I was happy to discover that a bike gave me the same sense of freedom and fun.

"I went on to train as a Mountain Bike Leader, first with CTC (now Cycling UK) and more recently becoming a British Cycling Level 3 Mountain Bike Guide. I love guiding both mixed and women specific groups and especially enjoy encouraging and building confidence in new riders to the sport which is why I now run my own guiding company called Mountain Yoga breaks. It’s never too late to start something new.

"For me, riding is all about getting out into nature, discovering new places or routes, pedalling away from our busy day to day lifestyles and taking time to unwind and reflect. I favour multi-day adventures in the UK, riding straight from home, carrying what I need, taking friends with me to share the experience and more importantly to just enjoy the ride."

This is Suki (daughter of Bunbury) and newest addition to our family. She's an amazing trail dog and full of energy. When she's not out with Phill &Polly, she loves chasing birds and having her floppy ears and tummy stroked.
She’s great at running with the bike, either sprinting away down the trail, or heeling to the back wheel when she needs a rest., Hopefully she'll be out playing on the trails when you visit.
She also likes lots of loves, so feel free for a cuddle, and keep your snacks and sandwiches tucked away!! ;-)

Dan needs no introduction when it come to mountain bike leadership and riding bikes. Dan rode Elite XC for Orange Bikes back when bars were the length of your school ruler and wheels came in one size.

From a mountain bike leadership perspective, Dan has been training guides in the UK and Europe for over 20 years. Firstly through his Offroad Training Consultancy (OTC) with the trail/tech leader awards, designing the off road leadership pathway for Cycling UK, and finally to today, Leadership and Off-Road Technical Lead for British Cycling. There aren't many guides in the UK who won't have benefited from Dan's leadership on a course, or indirectly from a trainer like Phill.
Dan is a very valued member of our team and close family friend, we are over the moon that he is involved with MTB Wales. At home, aside from riding of course, Dan loves walking his pooch Nellie, wife Julie and the girls.
