Greg, Camilo, Alex and Francisco had arrived in Knighton for the off, four very keen riders looking forward to their three day adventure. We paused a little to see if the snow shower would pass over, but alas it got worse. Only one thing for it, get out and ride.
The climb up toward Beacon Hill was white over, and Alex was slipping about in her Five Tens. The next two hours to Llanbadarn was a white out, almost blizzard conditions, and a cutting wind. We dived down the hill and into the cafe for lunch and a warm. The afternoon brightened up and we headed for Bwlch Y Sarnau. Glyndwrs Way was as wet as ever, but we were rewarded with tea and fine cakes at a newly opened cafe in the village, heavenly!
Up the last climb and a sunny roll into Rhayader and a beer. We have ever had a first day like that, so we now have the full collection of day one horror weather stories!
