On pointing the road out, a few went even paler with fear, however they all got up the steep horror with out honoring the hill to which it owes its name. Elan Valley was sunny and clear views all the way through, sunken road was a challenge and Francisco from Venezuela decided to give it a miss and save his legs. Usual dipping and avoiding water until the group gave up and got with the job in hand, quickly covering the trail in good time and successful crossings.
Claerwen was a head wind out of every inlet, kind of expected I guess. Sean had joined us from Llanidloes on a guest appearance and quickly went to the from to join Greg, not to be seen for an hour! It might have come back to haunt Greg on the last climb of the day!
Teifi Pools were glorious and we were greeted at the water by our friendly hostess, even after three years I'm yet to remember her name on the first tour!
The grassy trail round to Cymystwyth via Hafod was a breeze and we covered the ground quick, a couple of punctures had set us back, but on the climb through Tarennig, we were back on it and arrived at 6pm in Llangurig at the Bluebell, with a tiring 72km under our belts. PJ however decided to continue riding around the car park until he hit 45 miles, his furthest on an MTB.
Liz and Dewi gave the group their usual warm welcome, beer and bike washing. Liz then went above and beyond as ever and washed and dried kit and shoes ready for Sunday. Camilo and Francisco celebrated with a Mixed Grill, and there wasn't much left!
